Corpus Grandiferum

Corpus Grandiferum (2015) is a study of the body as terrain for exploration and exploitation, through visualisation of the mixing and resisting of 'natural' materials (such as metal oxides and pigments) with the artist's blood. It is through extrapolation that the imagery resembles a satellite ("god's eye") view of our planet, as well as a metaphor for our material relationship with the Earth.

The original series of still and moving images were captured and recorded using only a hacked webcam for a microscope. Later, during a residency at SymbioticA, access to a specialised DIC microscope would allow for higher resolution images with greater depth and clarity.
